“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:” 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (NKJV)

We give thanks to God for endowing the church with many gifts. We understand that it is only by His good grace and mercy that we receive His gifts and are able to carry out His message. In the act of stewardship of our God-given gifts, we maintain the following ministries, auxiliaries, and committees (in no particular order).

Board of Deacons

The title deacon implies “servant.” Thus, a deacon is one who serves the church. 1 Timothy 3:8-13 details the qualifications of a deacon. It is through these qualifications and under the guidance and direction of our pastor that the deacon serves the church in various capacities. Some of which are: maintaining a supportive role in the spiritual ministry of the church; visiting the sick; identifying the needs of the congregation; assisting in the administration of the church’s ordinances, including but not limited to, the Lord’s Supper, and to provide general supervision of the temporal interests and affairs of the church.

The Mother’s Board

The Mother’s Board is composed of older women of good character, wisdom, and who love the church. Members of the Mother’s Board are chosen by the pastor to uphold a high standard in holy living in the family as well as in the church. They are to be careful of honoring God in their dress, in their speech, and in the general conduct of their lives. Mothers should also be able to teach and admonish the younger women to love their own husbands and to care of their children in a way that will produce productive, God-fearing citizens. The mothers should be unselfish and apt to caring for the needs and well-being of others. Members of the Mother’s Board assist the pastor, as needed.

Christian Education

Christian education is essential to every ministry. It is through Christian education that the church is taught the exemplary life of Jesus Christ and the commands of God. It provides the basic instruction for healthy spiritual living for God’s people. In addition to the proclamation of the word by way of our pastor’s preaching and sermons, we offer two highly acclaimed resources for Christian education: Sunday School and Bible Study.

Prayer & Bible Band

In the Church of God in Christ, Prayer and Bible Band is a ministry of our Women’s Department. It is tasked with preparing women to know their Bible and to learn how to pray and communicate effectively with God, our source, who supplies all of our needs according to his riches in glory.

Home & Foreign Missions

Home and Foreign Mission is an organization of the church designed to provide services to those in need at home and abroad. This ministry is dedicated to doing missions and promoting evangelism, in our local community and throughout the world. Some services provided by our Home and Foreign Missions ministry are: the collection and distribution of food and clothing for the needy and providing social services to the disadvantaged in addition to prayer and spiritual uplifting.

Purity Class

The Purity Class is a program of our Women’s Department. It’s mission is to provide a wholesome environment for youth development as well-rounded and balanced individuals. It does this by teaching and upholding moral standards, discipline, a higher standard of living, and true Christian virtue. The Purity Class consists boys and girls, ages 12-19, and is divided into two groups: Junior Puritans (ages 12-15) and Trailblazers (ages 16-19).

Sunshine Band

The Sunshine Band is a program of our Women’s Department. It ministers to and nurtures our children ages 12 and under. Sunshine band teaches children about God; the love of God and God’s son, Jesus; basic Bible concepts and knowledge; the basic rules of ministry; scriptures that provide a foundation for understanding, faith, love, grace, salvation and practical precepts for living holy and productive lives.

Through the Sunshine Band children have the opportunity to learn, lead, follow, teach, explore, display their talents, develop and grow under the prayerful leadership of the church. The Sunshine Band has four divisions: Sunbeams (ages 1-5), Sunrays (ages 6-8), and Illuminators (ages 9-12). Activities are planned for each age group according to their physical, social, emotional and spiritual maturity.

Usher Board

The Usher Board is a ministry that consists of both women and men. Their responsibility is to meet and great people at the door with a smile and to reassure them that they are in the Lord’s house. Ushers also ensure that church-goers are properly seated and distribute church programs and bulletins. The Usher Board is also responsible for the preparation of the sanctuary for service.

Hospitality

The Hospitality Committee is a group of women and men who display kindness, compassion, and thoughtful consideration while entertaining and welcoming the congregation, visitors, and special guests to all church services and events. This group of servants is also typically responsible for preparing food and refreshments and decorations at all church events.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry prepares the heart of the worshiper through music and song to be receptive to the preached word of God. Praise and worship is the pinnacle of the music ministry as it allows the congregation to participate, through song and devotion, in the exaltation and thanksgiving of God, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Our Music Ministry consists of: The Christ Fellowship Mass Choir, the Male Chorus, the Youth Choir, and Christ Fellowship’s Little Angels.
